| Note | Death cert ordered. H.M Doncaster is not listed on the CWGC website, which, as he died of gangrene as a result of injuries sustained in action, he should be. Seems you need to check the death cert, see if it mentions the war injuries as leading tohis death or not. If it does, then the CWGC should add him, If not, then we need his army discharge papers or medical record I guess. |

The tale from the family was that Mason had gangrene as a result of injuries and, although not explicitly stated, it was assumed he died from that. I presume the gangrene would have made him more susceptible to pneumonia, but it is not listed as being a contributary factor. |
