Marriage
Extracted record. Also supported by info from Donna. Also on Parish records from Blanche Charles, OPC for the area. Entry number 100 in Parish Marriages record. Copy available. Both made their mark. James listed as from Perranzabuloe, Ann from Newlyn. Married after Banns. Witnesses were Alice Sangwin and John Oliver
Note
Mother is called Mary. Quite possibly one of the two obvious choices - Mary Taper or Mary James.... (see James and William Trenerry details for discussion on those names)
Note
An entry in the World Connect project on Rootsweb claims that Ann is indeed the daughter of William and Mary James. That entry claims William Trenery was born in Redruth about 1779 and Mary James was born in Redruth abt 1786 Claimed christening for William is 4 July 1779 in Kenwyn. Seems a bit far fetched that they would travel to Truro to christen the child born in Redruth to me.... The marriage would have taken place when Mary was only 15 based on this data. Sounds out of the ball park to me.
Note
Looking at Neil Trenerrys tree, it doesn't seem likely tht William and Mary James fit easily with the alleged children. Neil has - William Trenerry born 1780, marries Mary James. Fair enough - I have seen the marriage details for that. But the children he lists - Grace, born 1820? When William and Mary are around 40 Thomas, born 1823 William John Phillip Joseph. OK, they *may* be correct, but there are a lot of Trenerrys around at the time and there is no easy way to distinguish between the various families.
Note
The World Connect entry states - Marriage 1 Ann TRENARY b: ABT 1804 in East Newlyn, Cornwall, England c: 21 OCT 1804 in East Newlyn, Cornwall, England * Married: 20 JAN 1827 in East Newlyn, Cornwall, England Children 1. William TRENERY b: 23 SEP 1832 in East Newlyn, Cornwall, England 4. John TRENERY b: 10 MAY 1835 in East Newlyn, Cornwall, England
Note
The same tree has an interesting selection of details for William and Mary James (the alleged parents of Ann) - OR DID I MISREAD, and it is the parents for WIlliam - which would seem more logical!!! # Given Name: Mary # Surname: James # Sex: F # Birth: ABT 1786 in Redruth, Cornwall, England # Death: in Redruth, Cornwall, England Marriage 1 William TRENARY b: ABT 1779 in Redruth, Cornwall, England c: 4 JUL 1779 in Kenwyn, Cornwall, England * Married: 21 NOV 1801 in East Newlyn, Cornwall, England Children 1. Note
Is this William and Mary in the 1841 census? Based on the stuff from the World Connect entry (see Ann notes) it may well be. Note
Comparing my details with those from William Benbow (another researcher) the mother is Mary JAMES.
Note
William Benbow lists the children of William Trener(r)y and Mary James as - Grace born 1820 Thomas born 1823 William born 1807 (18 Jan) John born 1802 (25 Sept) Phillip Joseph born 1818 (10 May) Elizabeth born 1813 (18 Oct) Ann - who we already have here (but William had a date of 25 Dec 1804, but agrres that the date was incorrect) Betsey born 1812 (18 Oct)

Note
Likely burial is - 15 April 1852 Ann Trenerry age 49 Rejerra Downs Newlyn East Parish Bearing in mind Ann (Nanny) is alive in 1851 and James is a widower in 1861, I suspect this to be her death
Note
Banns called on 10th, 17th and 24th of December 1826
Note
Very IMPORTANT: This Ann is NOT likely to be the dau of William from Redruth. She is going to be a dau of William and Mary from Newlyn East at a guess. The whole Redruth thing is something which has crept into online databases of Trenerrys and never questioned.
Note
So, based on the Redruth lot not being directly connected, lets look at baptisms in Newlyn East for children with William and mary as parents. 1775 to 182o, using Newlyn East and "Tren" as surname on the OPC database I get - John 1802 Ann 1804 William 1807 Betsey 1812 Philip 1815 Joseph 1818 But a look at marriages to find the parents, and we get the marriage of William and Mary James in Newlyn East in 1801! Both listed as OTP. So the mystery continues. I suspect the idea that William was from Redruth is someone getting confused surely? A look at Mary James bapt finds one in Newlyn in 1776 with parents called Thomas and mary. This disagrees with the current belief held by the Trenerry researchers that Mary was born in 1781 (for which I can see no evidence) What aboput William then? A search of Newlyn from 1760 to 1782 in the OPC database gives three. One, 1769, son of Edward and Ann, the other two sons of John and Jane (the first presumably dying and the next named after him).1778 and 1780
