Note
Reputed father - residence given as "of Hendra".
Note
I was transcribing Banns for Perranzabuloe when I came across Banns for a William Trenerry of Hendra hoping to marry a Mary TAPER. The third call of the Banns was interrupted by .... Elizabeth ROBERTS!!! Seems this is the William who was the father of her child - our James.
Note
A Trenerry of possible interest is William, born 1769, son of Edward and Ann Pengilly. So far, I can't find any evidence other than he is a likely candidate. But he was from Newlyn, rather than Perranzabuloe, but that isn't too concerning. Marriage to Mary Taper gives no clues re age either. We can rule out - William, born 1767, son of William and Elizabeth/Mary Cooke as he marries Ann Mitchell. *Also rule out William, born 1780, son of James and Elizabeth Nicholls - marries Mary James 1801* No we cant! William, 1780, son of John and Jane Adams. Marries Fanny Harris 1802
Note
Donna has seen some trees on Ancestry which suggest William is the son of Eli. Seems a bit old to me, but will see what comes up.
Note
There are a selection of children born to a William and Mary starting in 1805 in Perranzabuloe.
Note
Think we can rule out the 1769 William as he marres Mary James and is the father of Ann. Of interest - William signs the marriage register, which suggests he was reasonably educated and thus perhaps in a more important role? Will see what I can find.
Note
The signing of the register suggests a degree of education. Whilst not ruling anyone out, it does tend to suggest that the miner and the husbandman William Trenerrys may not be our man. The miner also has another negative - his children seem to be born around Tywarnhayle The husbandman was resident in Hendra (birth of son 1818) but I am not sure about him. At the moment, I tend towards William who, at the birth of Charlotte (1815) gives his residence as Hendra and occupation as Yeoman. Hwever, it is certainly possible that the father of Charlotte could be the chap who married Mary Roberts in 1814. He also signed the register and the marriage seems to coincide with the birth of Charlotte. Of course, there are a number of "unclaimed" children in the area prior to that with Wm and Mary parents but no other details - Elizabeth 1805 Mary 1806 Jenifer 1809 Amy 1812
Note
as a point of interest, the 3 sons of Wm (b-1832) & Fanny Trenery were all 3 miners when they came to the US. Rick remembers stories from his grandpa John about mines. When trying to sort out which family is which perhaps the miners clue will help. kjt
