Note
Note that there is a baptism for an Amy (something) Stribley 20 Jan 1881 in St Enoder no father, mother Catherine Mary.... And this looks like Amy on the 1881 census - Nicholas CURTIS Head M Male 45 Newlyn, Cornwall, England Mason Tabitha CURTIS Wife M Female 45 St Wenn, Cornwall, England Bessie CURTIS Daur U Female 16 Kenwyn, Cornwall, England Thomas CURTIS Son Male 13 Cornwall, England Scholar John James MORRISH Boarder Male 3 St Columb, Cornwall, England Scholar Amy G. Note
It would seem the G stands for Gourbeyre, which is French (obviously!). Wonder if this is a clue as to the father?
Note
The Curtis family had moved to Redruth by 1891, which might explain why Amy was back with her gran. 1891 census transcription details for: 1, North Street, Redruth National Archive Reference: RG number: RG12 Piece: 1847 Folio: 111 Page: 1 Reg. Note
Looks as though Nicholas Curtis might be a Morrish rellie. His parents were John Curtis and Elizabeth and he was baptised 25 Dec 1835 in Newlyn East. But perhaps not a Morrish rellie? Mother seems to be Elizabeth Ellery from Perranzabuloe.
Note
Nicholas is Nicholas Morrish C(o)urtis, son of John C(o)urtis and Elizabeth MORRISH... so yep, family.
Note
Middle seems connected to the person in the 1881 census with Catherine. 1881 census - James W. LANE Head M Male 34 Ireland Rector Of Redruth Frances A.
