Thomas Henry would seem to be the son of Mary (aged 20). There is a baptism for him -
2 May 1841 which lists Mary as his mother and a single lady. Address given as Resparva Downs. |

| Note | Despite what is stated on a rootsweb world connect entry, none of Henry and Catherines children were likely to have been born/baptised in St Enoder parish. There are no records for any such events in St Enoder.
I feel they were baptised in St Columb Major - certainly the 1851 entry for Henry, Richard and Thomas states St Columb Major.
|
| Note | Susan Old suggests that Henry was not deceased by 1851.
There is an entry in the St Agnes area for a Henry Daw, living with William Stribley and family. Henry Daw is listed as a father in law. If Susan has seen the original census (I am working on the COCP transcript), perhaps it says Henry "Do" - i.e ditto for the surname?

The age certainly fits and Susan suggests that Henry remarried Dec qtr 1853 to an Elizabeth Bennetts.
Dec qtr 1853 Truro district 5c 383
She also has him on the 1861 at Rosemundy Hill, St Agnes.
It is certainly possible!
1861 -

Further discussion with B-G members and Susan and the Henry is "Do" - i.e Stribley.
Jane isn't Daw, she is Staple. |
| Note | One of the witnesses at marriage was a John Stribley - possible relation? |
| Note | Really exciting developments - courtesy of my birthday pressie (a sub to FMP).
I stuck the two brothers - with approx dates of birth into the parish register baptisms and got some interesting results -
Henry Stribley, baptised 23 Dec 1793 St Columb MINOR, parents George and Mary.
Then I plonked in Thomas and got -
Thomas Stribley, baptised 31 May 1784 St Columb Minor, parents George and Mary - and Thomas was noted as a twin. NOTE: Parish reg names both THomas and John and states twins.
So I used the same date to find the twin and got a JOHN (i.e perhpas the same John who was a witness at Henry's marriage?)
This is pretty exciting stuff - I might have solved the mystery of the Stribleys! |
| Note | Assuming John is indeed a brother of Henry and Thomas as seems likely, then a probable marriage is -
John Stribley and Elizabeth Roberts

The COCP gives the brides name as Robarts. Sadly, no witnesses given. |
