| Note | From West Briton, 17 January 1887
Accident To A 'Bus Proprietor - A serious accident happened to Mr. Henry
STRIBLEY, 'bus proprietor, St. Agnes, while returning from Truro on
Wednesday. When between the three and four milestone, while getting off
the 'bus to walk, his foot slipped, and he fell, the wheel of the 'bus
passing over his leg and breaking it, it is supposed in two places. He
was taken on by the 'bus to St. Agnes, and Mr. W. WHITWORTH, surgeon,
was at once called in to see him. |
| Note | Looks like Henry retired from the bus trade following the accident.

| Note | By 1889, the St Agnes trade directory is showing the bus company as
Stribley and Hancock, running a service from Churchtown to Truro Mondays, Weds and Saturdays, plus a service to Redruth on Fridays.
Henry is still listed as a Carrier. I note also that at least two pubs in St Agnes are being run by Hancocks - the Plume of Feathers (Richard Hancock) and the Smiths Arms (Thomas Hancock). A third Hancock, Joseph, is listed as a Van proprieter - possibly the one involved with the bus?
