30 th November 1816 Bastardy Bond (Joseph & Elizabeth Trenerry)
Know all Men by these Presents That we Joseph Trenerry of the Borough of Truro in the County of
Cornwall Cordwainer and Elizabeth Trenerry of the said Borough Singlewoman are held and firmly
bound to Thomas John and Richard Taunton Churchwardens and Richard Ferris George Rouse and
William Treleaven Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Saint Mary within the said Borough (in trust
for the parishioners of the said parish) in the sum of Fifty pounds of Good and lawful Money of Great
Britain To be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers or their certain Attorney Executors
Administrators or Assigns for the true Payment whereof we bind ourselves and each of us jointly and
severally and our and each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these Presents Sealed
with our Seals Dated this thirtieth day of November in the fifty seventh Year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and
sixteen
The Condition of this Obligation is such That if the above Bounden The Condition of this obligation is
such That whereas Maria Tippet of the said Borough Singlewoman hath in Heirs Executors or
Administrators and by her voluntary Examination shall and do well and truly pay or Cause to be paid
unto the above named taken in writing and upon oath before Lewis Charles Danbury Esquire Mayor
and one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace of and for the said Borough declared that she is with
Child and that the said Child is likely to be Executors Administrators or Assigns the full Sum of born a
bastard and to be chargeable to the said parish of Saint Mary and that the above bounden Joseph
Trenerry is the Father of the said Child If therefore the said Joseph Trenerry and Elizabeth Trenerry
or either of them their of Good and lawful Money of Great Britain or either of their Heirs Executors or
Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and
save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish
and their successors for the time being as also all and singular the other without fraud or further delay
Then this Obligation to be void and of none effect or else remain in full force and Virtue parishioners
and Sealed and delivered (being first inhabitants of the said parish which now are or hereafter duly
Stamped) in the presence of shall be for the time being of and from all manner of costs taxes rates
assessments and charges whatsoever for or by reason of the birth education and maintenance of the
said Child and of and from all actions suits troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever
touching or concerning the same Then this present obligation is to be void or else to be and remain in
full force.
