Richard John Trenerry
Richard enlisted at the early age of almost eighteen in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry .
It would seem he spent around fourteen years in service ,first in India and then on November 5, 1899 to South Africa. Richard served as a dispatch rider for General Lord Kitchener. He married Edith Jane May on December 23, 1897 .He was twenty five and she was nineteen . He left for South Africa the next fall . He was presented with two medals from South Africa. The first THE QUEEN'S MEDAL has four bars JOHANNESBURG< DRIEFONTEIN <PAARDEBERG< and CAPE COLONY.
The second medal is THE KINGS MEDAL 1901 and 1902 . 2912 Pte. R. Trenery D. of C.L.I. He also had a badge with a star and thistle from the Scottish Foot Guards
