Marie Sylvia Grover Trenery, affectionately known as "ReRe", passed away peacefully at her Middletown home after a brief illness on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the age of 94. Marie was a lifelong Monmouth County resident, born on June 2, 1918 in Atlantic Highlands and was the daughter of the late Garfield and Estelle (Russell) Grover. Marie grew up in Atlantic Highlands and graduated from Leonardo High School, where she was active in an array of school activities - student council, played basketball and baseball and was a cheer leader. She loved school and helped organize her high school reunions for years. Marie was formerly associated with the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth from 1941 to 1955.
She was the loving wife of the late Fred J. Trenery, owner of Trenery Chevrolet, and they were married for over 60 years, living in Middletown. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Grover, and sister, Gladys Rebecca Grover.
Marie was an avid volunteer in civic and community activities and was a diehard NY Yankees fan. She loved following the stock market, playing poker slots, going to Monmouth Park, and being with friends and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Bank. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her devoted children, Susi, who lovingly lived with and cared for her mother until her death, Richard and his wife Constance of Fairfield, Conn. She has two adoring grandchildren, Tiffany and Tisha, and a beloved great-granddaughter, Paige; and, several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Riverside Ave., Red Bank, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., with an interment following at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, Marie's family requests that contributions be made to VNACJ Hospice to 176 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701.
