Had several jobs - servant, miner, groom, billiard maker!,inn keeper, as well as serving as a blacksmith in the Boer War. Per 1901 census, he was listed as visiting Alfred Crapp (brother). Occupation was Blacksmith and licenced beer retailer. Normal abode - Hackney. Description from Naval records - 5 feet 3 1/2 inches Not sure where I got the 1901 tale from! Not correct anyway

Death reported in the "Barrier Miner" newspaper, Thursday 22 May 1930. Can be viewed on Trove at - http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/46539824 transcript is - DEATH OP MR. T. M; CRAPP Early this morning the death occur- red suddenly at his residence, 129 Cor nish streét, Railway' Town, of Mr. Tom Martin Crapp. (69). Mr. Crapp went to, work as usual yesterday. Dr. Quinn issued a certificate that death was due to natural causes. The late Mr. Crapp leaves a widow .and a grown-up family. He was a member of the Blacksmiths Society, and had been employed on the Zinc Corporation for the last few years, prior to which he had been working at the Globe Timber Mills. He had served in the Egyptian campaign and at the Boer War under the late Lord Kitchener. Born in England, he came to Australia in 1912. The remains will leave his late residence on Satur- day at ll a-m. for interment in the Church of England portion of the Cemetery under the direction of Tom J. Mallon.
