Note
Report from newspaper cutting. ALLEGED BIGAMY Grampound Road Man Charged At Newquay At Newquay yesterday Charles Leonard Crapp, a steam roller driver of Grampound Road, and lately residing at Trevemper near Newquay, was yesterday charged with bigamously marrying Ada Winifred Bilkey of Trevemper, his wife, Sarah Lily Crapp, St Ives, still being alive. Sarah Lily Crapp, age 20, Mill-course, The Warren, St Ives, said she first met accused in August 1922 and on December 30 the same year married him by special licence at Penzance Registry Office. They lived together a fortnight, and she had not seen him since. Accused contributed (illegible – looks like 11s) a week for herself and child. For a time she had to put herself on the parish. Accused then sent 12s. 6d. a week up to three months ago. Ada Winifred Bilkey, Trevemper Bridge, said she first met accused in March, 1923. Accused's sister sent her a letter stating that accused was not a widower as he represented himself to be. Witness believed accused's statement, and they went through a form of marriage at St. Columb Minor Parish Church on February 9 of this year. Accused said his marriage to Miss Bilkey was carried out in a straight and sober manner. He claimed her to be his legal wife. As to his previous marriage, he alleged that Mrs.Davis paid his £3 while he was intoxicated to marry her daughter. He was handed money at the registry office to pay for the marriage, which he contended was not legal. Accused was commited for trial at the Assizes.
Note
1932 Electoral Register St Columb Minor lists - William Martin Bilkey Jane Ann Bilkey Ada Winifred Bilkey at Trevemper Bridge. Note that Barbara, the daughter of Ada, was too young to be registered on the Electoral Roll According to Nigel, the family lived in the first of the white cottages as you head up the hill from Trevemper Bridge towards Treloggan.
Note
Seems to be incorrectly entered as Annie W. Bilkey aged 6 on the 1901 census!
Note
Also had a son - Geoffrey Bilkey. Unknown father. March qtr 1913 St Columb district 5c 127 Info from Nigel Phillips.

Probably just a coincidence, but came across this burial - Day Month 04-Jul Year 1934 Parish Or Reg District Neot, St. Forename Ada Winifred Surname CRAPP Age 41 Residence Tremaddoc Cottages Notes Transcriber Notes Transcriber Kay Halley Right age, wonder if she used her "married" name later in life? There is a marriage Mar qtr 1938 for an Ada W Bilkey and a John Joy St AUstell 5c 186 which may also be her - so possibly the death is just a coincidence? No Ada Crapp baptised between 1890 and 1900 The Crapp death is just coincidence. An Ada Winifred Martin married a Matthew J Crapp Dec qtr 1914 Liskeard 5c 113
