Jose Family

Proving very hard to prove much! The will gives some info - sisters Nannie and Lavinia etc - but not much else to go on. Per 1891 census, there is a Richrd aged 25 lodging as a married man with (possible) wife Elizabeth Trenerry (also listed as married and a boarder) with the family of William Trenerry and Fanny. Children listed as below - 43,Mount Hill,1,William Trenerry,Head,M,68,,Farm Labourer,Employed,Perranzabuloe Cornwall,, ,,,Fanney Trenerry,Wife,M,,52,,,Cubert Cornwall,, ,,,Albert Trenerry,Son,S,15,,Farm Labourer,Employed,Perranzabuloe Cornwall,, ,,,Lavinia Trenerry,Dau,S,,13,Scholar,,Perranzabuloe Cornwall,, ,,,Nanney Trenerry,Dau,S,,11,Scholar,,Perranzabuloe Cornwall,, ,,,Richard Trenerry,Boardr,M,25,,Miner,,Perranzabuloe Cornwall,, ,,,Elizabeth Trenerry,Boardr,M,,28,,,Perranzabuloe Cornwall,, If this is the correct Richard, my own records are wrong. His wife died 18 December 1947 - so this may be a useful fact? I do not believe that Fanny and William are the correct parents. Note - I was unable to discover Richard in the 1881 census in the UK. There are 2 listed from Perranzabuloe (I searched generally - not stating PZ) - Richard J, son of Samuel, farmer, Carnkeif aged 16 and Richard, farm servant, aged 15 working for Joseph Richards, treworthan Perranzabuloe. This is definately NOT the Richard Trenerry - rent collector, born abt 1845.

But was the wife Elizabeth Lockett? We know that Richards wife was Elizabeth - info from will etc. But, per FreeBMD, a Richard T married a Bessie Wesson March qtr 1890. Did a BMD hunt and looked at all female Locketts between 1882 and 1891 - none married anything which could possibly be Trenerry.... Nor Locket, Lockit or Lockitt....

1901 census indicates Elizabeth was 39 and born in Perranzabuloe. Richard was 35, also born Perranzabuloe. Occupation farmer. This fits with the 1891 census details for the people lodging with William and Fanny.

Simon Lockett is listed in Perranzabuloe Directory for 1893 as a farmer at Rose - which may be useful.

Not convinced re Locketts. Looking at the data I used, it states Joseph and Emily as parents - but that may have been me who entered that! Further review of what I know seems to rule out Eliz. Wesson. The Elizabeth who married Richard was born in about 1862 - the 1901 census lists her as 39, which ties in with the 1891 census also. So... Wesson I think is ruled out, unless the girl was Ellen, which seems unlikely.Bessie/Elizabeth Wesson is listed as born in Kenwyn - whereas wife of Richard was born in Perranzabuloe. Lockett - possibly in the running, as we have a Elizabeth born abt 1861 per the 1871 census. The only snag seems to be the lack of any marriage details. The Wesson/Trenerry marriage DOES exist, at the right sort of time.... confusing! No other Trenerry marriage in the area at the time (except a Richard Herbert Trenerry, but that isn't him I am sure). They were Methodists, but by then all marriages were legally registered.It is possib le that the marriage is not transcribed as yet - but not terribly likely.

Possible marriage? Truro district 5c 1(2 or 9)7 March qtr 1890 Reversing the lookup and fiddling with the various possible names, I found Bessie Wesson marriage - same time, same district, 5c 197. Which seems fairly conclusive. However.... There are, as usual, 2 females listed and 2 males. It is shown in the Parish records - many thanks to Blanche Charles, the OPC for Perranzabuloe, that that Richard Trenerry was the older, Parish Clerk one and that he actually married the other female of the two - No 404 13 Feb 1890 Richard TRENERRY full age widower occ: Parish Clerk Res: Cocks (fa: Richard TRENERRY, Parish Clerk [deceased] Mary RAWLINGS full age spinster Res: Bolingey (fa: John RAWLINGS, Mine agent [deceased] Banns; Witnesses: Jane Grant? MITCHELL, John PROUNT? So Elizabeth/Bessie Wesson is NOT the Elizabeth we are looking for.

An exhaustive search of the GRO marriages index between the March qtr 1881 (when Richard is listed on the census as unmarried and the 1st qtr 1891 (when he is listed as married) gives no reuslts for him. Either this is a missed record or they were not married.

The BMD transcripts are still not complete for marriages in the right period - so fingers crossed he will turn up later!

William and Fanny Trenerry (plus Richard) headstone, at the far top end of Perranzabuloe churchyard. Details - In loving memory of William Trenerry who died at Rejerrah December 12th 1908 aged 76 years also of Fanny, widow of the above who died at (St Dennis?) March 11th? 1909 aged 70 years. Also of Richard, beloved husband of E Trenerry, who died at Rose October 20th, 1924 aged 59 years

I suspect that she may have been Elizabeth MAY - bearing in mind there are May mentions in the will. There is an Elizabeth MAY marriage on FreeBMD - June qtr 1887 Truro district 5c 246 and no corresponding gentleman....

I am back looking at Elizabeth Locket(t) as the wife. I am fairly sure that Roger Glanville suggested that was her name - he was related to the Elizabeth we are looking for - plus there seems to be a fair amount of circumstantial evidence for the Lockett family, e.g farm. On Rootsweb World Connect, there is someone who has a Richard Trenerry marrying an Elizabeth. That Elizabeth was Lockett, then married a James and then Richard Trenerry. Elizabeth Lockett marriage to John James June qtr 1883 Truro district 5c 238 Several deaths for a John James, but nothing stood out. So far, not able to find a marriage between Elizabeth James and Richard Trenerry though. I am emailing the owner of the info on Rootsweb - but these probes seem to be mostly unanswered :(

The owner of the Rootsweb tree has replied :) Seems the info came from.... my old mate, the late Roger Glanville! I knew Roger was a mine of info regarding Rose village and, after he passed away his son Simon said that there was thoughts of putting Rogers info into a book about the area. Apparently, that has been done - and that is where the information came from! Will see if I can get a copy of the book from Rogers widow...
